The quirky town of Oamaru

Oamaru is the main town of the Waitaki District, known for being a historical, architectural, art and food hub. Step back in time with a visit to the Oamaru Victorian Precinct, where you will find yourself in an old Victorian world, from the architecture through to activities such as riding a penny farthing! Each of the buildings has its own story, charm and character, making the main historic precinct a truly special place. 

Don’t forget the adorable fauna Oamaru is known for – the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony and the yellow-eyed penguin colony. Take the opportunity to go and witness these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat – an experience you won’t forget!
